Overtime and gross pay are estimates based on the settings you enter. Actual pay rules may differ. See calculation methodology
Hours up to the threshold are regular hours; hours above it are overtime. The workweek is a fixed period of seven days, and each workweek is calculated on its own.
Overtime pay is calculated from exact minutes and rounded to the cent once. The overtime rate shown next to the result is rounded for display only.
The defaults follow the general federal rule for covered, non-exempt employees: at least one and a half times the regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. The calculator uses the hourly rate you enter; it does not work out a regular rate that includes bonuses, commissions or shift pay.
regular = min(hours worked, threshold)
overtime = max(0, hours worked − threshold)
overtime pay = round(overtime minutes × rate × multiplier ÷ 60)Have daily clock times instead of a weekly total? Use the Time Card Calculator
Overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate. At $20.00 per hour, each overtime hour pays $30.00, so 5 hours of overtime pay $150.00.
The rounded rate can change the cents. 12h 30m at $15.25 × 1.5 is $285.94 from exact minutes, while 12.5 × $22.88 would give $286.00.
